Whales spend around 90% of their lives underwater, often far from shore. Because of that, they are very difficult to study. By attaching satellite-monitored radio tags to whales we can remotely track their movements and behavior around the world.

In this first video we describe how satellite tagging works and highlight our long-term “Location Only” tag, which provides whale movement and migration information anywhere in the world for up to a year or more.

In this second video we introduce our recoverable “Advanced Dive Behavior” tag that records detailed information about how and where a whale moves underwater.

In this third video we introduce our implantable “Dive Monitoring” tag, that combines the capabilities of the previous two tags to provide us with both long-term location and dive behavior information from whales for months at a time.
